Umm is it Nuke Day yet?
So I got to thinking that Jake (as well as Van) is into charity. So I decided to open this thread to all the ppl out there that Love to lend a

helping hand as well.
Jakes next 2 charity events links: Vh.net Link for Soapfest Charity Weekend and Love out Loud Thread

This thread is for us to post links about great charity events, links to where to make donations, share stories about being charitable. Even if

you went to the supermarket and bought something for $1 to help the hungry or your community's sports program, whatever it is you do

that helps another POST IT. Now it is not all about the MONEY MONEY MONEY, if you volunteer your time for a cause let us know about. If it is

in the NYC area I will most likely come and help out.

My current charities with links are:

Comfort Zone Camp
This is my #1 charity, place to be, I LOVE LOVE LOVE CAMP!!!! You can donate on the web, or volunteer like me. Comfort Zone is the nations largest Bereavement Camp for children 7-18. It is located in Richmond, Va/ Blairstown, NJ/ Malibu, CA.

Team Charity
A serious Cause...A serious good time!
Are you a NJ/NY young professional who is tired of the same old nitelife? Spending tons of cash on over priced drinks? Well why not put that money to a great cause while meeting young professional like yourselves? There are tons of events: mixers, beerpond, bowling, runs, walks, biking.

ELKS
Yeah I always get heat for this one, but I am proud to say that I am an Elk in my community.
Bartending/ waitressing/ BBQ's you name it. Proceeds from you local BPOE go to a number of charity's, local and national. Cripple children, senior citizens, community sports, veterans, you name it.

Broadway Cares
Need I say more?

Dude Hates Cancer
All money raised at the event goes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), the world's largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research, education, and patient services.
OMg I had a BLAST bowling last year. My team thought we were gonna lose cuz we are not bowlers. WE CAME IN SECOND!
IDK how I hit 4 strikes in a row. I lost the Best Women's Bowling Trophy to my friend who beat my score by a hair!

Don't let my list scare you! I am a freak I know! Pls post cuz if you dont I will! hahaha...

Hi all - Jake's Birthday for the card and donation to Unicef is being a joint effort. Sandy from this site is doing the cards which will be sent in a single package to the studio. VH.net worked with Unicef - Jake's charity of choice - to get the online donations in place. lukeandnoahfans.com is promoting it on it's site as well - all three sites are asking members to pull together and make Jakes B'day a great one!

I love this charity thread! I hope it's O.K. but I am going to "steal" this great idea and start a thread on lukeandnoahfans.com as well.

Keep up the great work every one!

So yesterday I was at a training for Volunteers for my favorite charity Comfort Zone Camp. It went well we had a

great turn out of volunteers for our June camp.

I was part of the volunteer panel, which is sort of a Q and A about being a Big Buddy. Although our turn out was

great, it was mostly women, we are in need of male volunteers! Our kids are matched on a 1:1 ratio boys with boys,

girls with girls, because we sleep in the same cabins (well try to sleep lol). So if any one is in the NYC,NJ,PA area pls

pls check out the website at the top of the tread! You can make a difference in a childs life just by giving them one

weekend of your time, an open heart, and two big giant listening ears!!!!

I wish I was in the area, I live in Vermont - it sounds like a great program - I will have to see if there is anything like it in this area - or do you allow imports? :)

I know we are tring to open up near Boston; is that better? But we love imports! I have a friend who started volunteering in VA and she decided to try out the NJ camp and now she is a frequent volunteer here as well as in VA. She makes the 6 hour haul to and from and loves every minute of it!

Comfort Zone Camp Spring Fund Raiser (OPEN BAR!)Wednesday, May 27, 7:00PM
Overlook Bar and Restaurant
225 East 44th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Ave)
New York, NY US

Please Join us for a night of fundraising to support Comfort Zone Camp, a very worthy cause. Comfort Zone is a special "big/little buddies" program in which each of the little buddies carries the burden of a life-changing loss.

Comfort Zone Camp is the nation's largest bereavement camp. Comfort Zone Camps are offered free of charge to children ages 7-17 who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. The camps are held year-round in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Virginia.

Comfort Zone Camps create an environment where grieving children can have fun and break the isolation death often brings, while learning valuable coping skills for their daily lives. At Comfort Zone Camp, children befriend peers who deal with similar problems. At CZC, we learn that we are not alone.

Because we run the camps free of charge, we constantly need to raise money in order to send as many campers as possible. We would very much appreciate your attendance at our function. The three hour open bar will cost 30 dollars, plus recommended donations. The evening will feature campy finger food, karaoke, and possibly a few jokes from veteran camper and comedian, David Storch.

We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, May 27th from 7-10pm. Please feel free to invite your friends, coworkers, or anybody else you know that may be interested in supporting the cause. While we welcome and appreciate drop-ins, it would be very helpful to us if you could RSVP by May 11th.

*Everything about the event, from dress to attitude, will be as casual as possible.
