This is not for profit. No copyright infringement is intended. Authors submit and write their own work. It had been 3 days since Noah asked Luke to marry him. Luke couldn’t stop staring at his ring. It was so beautiful. He loved Noah so much and he was determined to spend the rest of his life with Noah. He was already making plans in his head about the flowers, the tuxes, the music, etc. He was ready to be Noah’s husband. "I am ready to be Noah’s husband." Luke thought to himself. "I want to spend the rest of my life with him and we have to be totally honest with each other. I will tell him tonight. The sooner I tell him, the sooner we can get on with our lives." Luke was in the kitchen making Noah’s favorite meal. Spaghetti with meat sauce. Noah loved Luke’s spaghetti. "Will you give me the oregano?" Luke asked. "Sure," Noah said as he stood behind Luke. Noah put his hands on Luke’s waist. "Noah..." Luke said, "I’m trying to make the sauce. You know I can’t concentrate with your hands around my waist." "I just can’t keep my hands off of you. You are going to be my husband and I’m just overwhelmed," Noah said. Noah began to kiss the back of Luke’s neck and Luke closed his eyes and started to lay back into Noah’s strong arms. "If you don’t stop, we won’t eat," Luke replied. Luke didn’t want Noah to stop, but he knew if he didn’t stop him they would never get to eat. "OK, OK. I will let my soon-to-be husband get back to cooking," Noah said as he pouted. Luke and Noah were finishing the dishes when Luke decided that now was the time. Luke kept going over the words he was going to tell the love of his life. He was so nervous and afraid, he almost lost his nerve. He had been unusually quiet during dinner. He was just picking at his food, not really eating much. He could barely keep the food down that he did eat. He was just so scared about losing Noah. Noah had noticed how tense Luke was, but he just assumed it had something to do with work. "Noah," Luke said as they headed to the couch. "Noah.....I, um." Luke let out a huge sigh. This was harder than he thought it would be. "I love you so much...." "I love you too babe," Noah said before Luke could finish. "Let me finish," Luke snapped. "OK. What’s wrong?" Noah asked. "I love you so much, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, but I have to tell you something." Noah’s whole facial expression changed. He went from happy to dread in 2 seconds flat. "I was a total wreck when my grandma died. You know that. You saw me. Her death really devastated me. On the day of her funeral, I was in another world. I could barely function. I was in such a dark place. I just wanted to feel good." Luke was crying at this point and Noah started to look scared. "What could be wrong?" Noah thought. "When I went out that night, I went to go get a drink and I happened to run into Mike Johnson." "You had a drink, with Mike?" Noah scowled with jealousy and anger filling his eyes. Noah was hoping beyond hope that this conversation was not headed to where he thought it was. "Noah," Luke said almost hysterically, "I ended up at Mike’s and we slept together." Luke had broken down to uncontrollable sobs now and Noah’s angry eyes had filled with tears. "What? What did you just say?" Noah screamed as he was crying so hard his body was shaking. Noah jumped up from the couch. He felt his head began to spin. He felt like he was in a horror movie."You fucked Mike? How could you do this to me? How?" Noah was so devastated, that his heart actually hurt. He could feel his chest getting tight. It felt like someone had let all of the air out of their townhome. "Oh my God Luke, Mike?" Noah screamed. Noah remembered who Mike was. He had a few classes with him back in Oakdale U and he had always had a crush on Luke. "YOU FUCKED MIKE!" Noah yelled at Luke. "Mike, fuckin' Mike. You son of a BITCH!" Noah was screaming and crying and shaking and he could feel the Mayer wrath rising up in him. He headed for the counter to get his car keys. "PLEASE don’t leave me! It was just the one time, I swear! Noah I love you, PLEASE don’t leave me!" Luke yelled with true desperation. Noah grabbed Luke by the arms and shoved him up against the wall. "You better leave me the fuck alone before I hurt you!" Noah left the townhome in tears. Noah’s heart was breaking into a thousand pieces. He just sat in the car crying his eyes out, yelling at the top of his lungs. He couldn’t imagine this kind of pain he was feeling. Luke was up against the wall crying hysterically. He was crying so hard, he was gasping for air at times. The hurt in Noah’s eyes was too much for Luke to handle. He slid down the wall with his hands in his face. How could one mistake cause so much trouble? |
